The internet brings about a higher level of accessing information that is faster and easier.   The internet can sometimes have problems with power surges and weather conditions that disrupt connections, which could cause loss of inspection data.   However,  this possibility could be reduced or eliminated through the use of technologies that allow offline inspections.

Mobile devices like iPhones and IPads, Android phones and tablets, laptops,  and Tablet PC’s can be very convenient for inspections, since they can be carried through the building easily when performing the inspection or audit.  Inspection applications can be downloaded onto the device and used offline, eliminating the need for a strong internet connection throughout the facility.  The inspection can be completed and then saved on the device to be synchronized to the cloud database at a later time.  When an internet connection is available, the inspection can then be synchronized to the web site.  This saves time by eliminating the down time of waiting for a good connection and creates security in knowing that a dropped connection will not result in a lost inspection.

Doing inspections offline cuts down time and provides a safer method of doing inspections.
